Linger 0.2.0 · Chrome extension 0.4.1

Web capture, saved searches and optional AI.

Save pages and selected text, read captured articles locally, and return to searches that update with your library.

Web capture and local reading

  • Save the current page from the Chrome toolbar, or save selected text from the context menu.
  • Capture readable article text for reading and keyword search in Linger. If the text cannot be captured, the page link is saved with an explanation.
  • Saving the same page, passage or media again reuses its record while preserving your edited title, notes, tags and folder. A previously saved page link can gain article text on a later capture.
  • Captured media keeps the original webpage link alongside the media address, so you can return to its source.

Saved searches

  • Save a keyword query and its source, medium and date filters as a named dynamic collection.
  • Reopen the collection to restore its search. Results update as inspirations and their searchable descriptions change.

Optional AI analysis and recall

AI is off by default. Choose your own OpenAI-compatible API connection or an active Codex / MCP agent in Settings.

  • Add image descriptions, visible text, summaries and machine tags. Analysis is stored separately from your original content and personal words, with a history of changes.
  • Use semantic recall or find similar images within your chosen folder, source, medium and date range. Model comparisons return reasons for each match.
  • Track task progress and failures, cancel remaining work, retry failed tasks and set a daily request limit. Interrupted tasks can resume.
  • API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain. API tasks run while Linger is open; Codex / MCP tasks need an agent actively processing the queue.
